#1 hands-down!

The link to vote is missing. I don't really like either one of them. There is nothing there to point to the wines. I think the grapes should take center stage.

I like #1, too much going on in #2
When will it be out, I can have my mother send it to me in CA?

I like No. 2. No. 1 is beautiful scenery. No. 2 is people enjoying beautiful scenery and wine. It's about people. - Phil Beckley

I like the one with the people in it better than the other one with just the dock.

Option number 1 is better. The photograph has richer, more vibrant scenery that captures the Finger Lakes experience in one shot. Plus, the use of people is redundant in the second option. One doesn't want to limit options to only those who are couples having a romantic time. The scenery will draw in the visitors--both couples and singles alike.

Definitely #1. It shows the beauty of the lakes & the grapevine in the foreground highlights what the region is famous for. I think it will appeal to a wider audience than the happy couple in the 2nd option.

Definitely #1. That just screams peace and relaxation to me. And I agree with the person who said don't limit it to romantic couples, the other scene would appeal to anyone.

If I had to pick, I'd say the one with the couple in it... but that being said, I don't think either cover really sums up what the Finger Lakes is. I was a graphic designer in the area, I've been on many MANY wine tours, I've given wine tours and this doesn't sum up the experience to me. The dock is cold, and very not what tasting in the Finger Lakes is. It's more realistic to see a couple enjoying with vineyards or a lake in the background, not many people relax on the lake and taste wine. I think both are beautiful shots, but sell the lake aspect more than the wine. Your cover should be warm and inviting... warm colors, not so much beige. The woman tasting in the corner, you can't see her face or her enjoying the experience. She looks somber, like she's drowning her sorrows in wine, rather than enjoying it. I really think you need to go back to the drawing board if you really want to sell it to visitors. This cover will not stand out, it looks like many of the other county travel guide covers, especially Seneca County.

#2 definitely. The picture makes me want to be the one sitting there. #1 is a pretty shot, but it wasn't immediately obvious to me that this was of grape vines. I had to study it a minute to get the point. #2 was obvious.

#2 is the best! I love the people!!!

#1 is great - it's the essence of the Finger Lakes. Reminds me of a relaxing summer day. It's both calm and refreshing.

Thanks! Kitty

I love #2. Number 1 is just scenery, but #2 actually puts me at the water & winery. The only problem I have with #2 is that the photo is a couple and it might turn off singles or 'non-traditional' couples.

That said, a photo with people, in my opinion, is always more interesting and inviting vs. just a scenery shot.

I like #1 the best but feel that it doesn't capture all of what the finger lakes is all about. It seems kind of cold or distant.

I like #1. #2 is exclusive - Finger Lakes is only for straight white couples.

Clark in Canada said...

#2 -- because I imagine me and my partner on the end of the dock. Makes me want to come to Finger Lakes again. I think you should lose the woman sipping wine. That's redundant.

Marianne votes for #1- beautiful picture!

Definitely #1. I love the view through the grape vines of the lake

#1 feels like the Finger Lakes. #2 is a nice design, but it could be anywhere. #1, please!

I like #1 better. #2 would appeal to couples, but perhaps make families/singles feel like the area's not for them. #1 is a little boring, though - it does look serene, but I've seen prettier pictures of the lake area.

#1 for sure! Beautiful picture!

I agree with Clark in Canada...if you have to use one of those photos (I'm also with Anonymous who said to redo the photos), I agree that the woman on the bottom is redundant. If you need an image in the bottom corner, a warm grape picture would work or a platter with wine & cheese.

I really don't like either one of them. Each has good parts to them, but doesn't capture what I view as the Finger Lakes Wine Country. The one with the couple is nice, but it limits your target audience and the woman drinking wine at the bottom seems like overkill. Actually I don't like the woman drinking wine in either of the pictures. It just seems awkard. I like the idea of what option 1 attempts to portray, it just doesn't have the right photo organization.

#1... it truly captures the beauty of the Finger Lakes area!

#1 for sure, too much in #2

Neither cover really does it for me, but #2, with the happy young, straight, white couple isn't going to resonate with people who are older, non-white, gay, or not in a romantic relationship. If you need to show people, how about a group of friends, instead? Unless is brochure is primarily geared toward young couples, of course...

i think both are lousy. what is with the girl sipping wine on the bottom of both posters? she has nothing to do with either scene. what brings me to the wineries is not featured in either advertisement, namely:
1)tasting the WINE
2)socializing with the GROUP i am with
3)TOURING the wineries and shops
4)the VIEWS and SCENERY!!!!

this shit is gay as hell, hands down, the most blown out, tourista-laden b.s. representation of life anywhere, much less the fingerlakes, that i have ever seen. yalls need to stop pretending.

#2 truly shows what the Finger Lakes Wine trails are about. Friends, lovers, family. The scenery is still essential Finger Lakes, but the couple on the dock takes me to the reason I married my husband. Thank you Finger Lakes Wine Country!
