25 Great Foliage Views in Finger Lakes Wine Country, #1 Wine Tasting on the Deck at Dr. Frank's Vinifera Wine Cellars

It was a beautiful weekend here in Finger Lakes Wine Country, perfect for picnicking, wine tasting, hiking, and many other Labor Day activities. With the kids back in school and the mornings feeling a bit chillier, it’s no secret that fall is upon us. Fall is my favorite time of year, so needless to say, I’m excited! Fall, or Autumn, or Harvest, or whatever you choose to call it is a spectacular time in Finger Lakes Wine Country. There is a magical feeling in the air and there are always exciting things to see and do. With lots to look forward to, we’ve decided to put together our list of the top 25 ways to experience the beautiful fall foliage in Finger Lakes Wine Country. We hope you get to experience a few, I know I’m ready!

To start our list off we have chosen wine tasting on the deck at Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars on the Keuka Lake Wine Trail. The quintessential fall activity in Finger Lakes Wine Country, wine tasting is an enjoyable way to spend a day (or weekend, or week!) and take in the gorgeous views of the region. The rolling hills, the lush vineyards, the crystal blue lakes, all surrounded by blue skies and puffy white clouds... ahhh... now that’s my idea of serene. If you’ve ever had the chance to enjoy a wine tasting on the deck at Dr. Frank’s, then you know why this is on our list.

Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars is named for the late Dr. Konstantin Frank. His grandson, Fred, is still keeping his dreams alive on Keuka Lake. Dr. Frank began what is known as the “Vinifera Revolution” a movement that forever changed the course of winegrowing in the Finger Lakes and the United States. Dr. Frank, a pioneer in winemaking, founded Vinifera Wine Cellars in 1962. Nearly 50 years later, the winery continues to gain international recognition.

A tasting at Dr. Frank’s is always unique and always enjoyable. I had the pleasure of having Susan guide me through a wine tasting this summer and she made it both informative and super fun. The view from the deck at Dr. Frank’s offers ideal scenery for leaf peeping in Finger Lakes Wine Country. Enjoy world-class wine, a little history, gorgeous vineyards, beautiful Keuka Lake, and memories in the making!
